3 Van Steenberge beers are on the menu at the Kitchen

Mark has won the Malta Kulinarija Chef of the Year competition and if you appreciate good food you won't be disappointed when you visit the Kitchen. In fact if you are visiting Malta this is a “must visit”. And when you do you will receive a friendly welcome from Nadja who supervises the 16 tables efficiently. The excellent food is complimented by an excellent wine menu that now also includes 3 strong Belgian Ales from Van Steenberge.

Augustijn is a 'living' abbey beer that had been brewed by the Augustinian fathers of Gent since 1295. In 1982, the recipe for the beer was taken over and improved by Van Steenberge, who also took over the marketing and distribution. In return they pay a royalty on each bottle to the Augustinian Abbey in Gent. Augustijn has a hoppy flavour with a malty background. You may also detect a light fruity vanilla flavour. The beer has an alcohol content of 8%.

Piraat is a 'living' beer - it continues to evolve during its secondary fermentation in the bottle. The flavour is so complex and so rich that every swallow conjures up new associations - the spicy light sweetness, which is richly balanced with the robust bitterness of the hops. Piraat is excellent to accompany meals or can simply be enjoyed as a relaxing drink. It is a rewarding adventure of a beer, a real treat. The beer has an alcohol content of 10.5%.

Gulden Draak is a beer in a class of its own. It is a beer that is rich and glowing, so full of its very own characteristic flavour, that it reminds some who try it of chocolate and others of coffee. In 1998 the American Tasting Institute crowned Gulden Draak as “best beer in the world”. It has won many other awards too. Gulden Draak is named for the golden statue at the top of the clock tower of the Belgian city of Gent. The beer has an alcohol content of 10.5%.

The Kitchen is on Sliema's Tower Road close to its Junction with Sir Adrian Dingli Steet. From the outside it’s a single garage width with a simple sign. Inside is minimalisticly “cool". It’s an rewarding adventure and a real treat.

THE KITCHEN IS AT 210 TRIQ IT-TORRI, SLIEMA - FOR RESERVATIONS TEL 21311112 or 99455650
