Augustijn becomes a blond - and a brunette
The brewery are relaunching their best selling beer Augustijn as a range of Belgian Abbey Ales. We are offering 2 of the range here in Malta.
For the new Augustijn Blond the strength reduces a little from the original beer, to 7% (Blond ales tend to be between 6% and 7%). And the colour lightens a little. But it retains the main chracteristics of original Augustijn. So it still has a hoppy flavor with a malty background and a light fruity vanilla flavour.
Augustijn Donker ( or dark) is our second beer with the Augustijn name and label. It has a russet hazelnut colour with a good, full head. The taste is full-bodied and mild with nicely balanced hints of raisins and chocolate. The finish is slightly bitter and a mild dry taste and a strength of 7.5%.
The new Augustin range has both a new label and a new glass.

The Augustinian fathers of Gent had been brewing beer at their abbey since 1295. In 1982, the brewing, marketing and distribution of the beer was taken over by Van Steenberge, in return the Abbey receive royalties. The Abbey near the centre of Gent can be visited
