Van Steenberge brews in the village of Ertvelde, 15 km north of the city of Gent (Ghent). The brewery started out back in the 1700s as a farm that brewed beer only for home consumption. Today it is a medium sized family run company committed to brewing world-class beer and to remaining independent. It produces a wide range of beer styles that it sells throughout Belgium and also exports them to the Netherlands, the USA, the UK, Spain, Italy, Russia and Malta. The brewery produces a wide range of beer styles with alcohol strengths from 3.5% to 10.5%. We stock 8 of their beers. We major on their most widely available beer in Belgium is called Augustijn Blond - a 7% blond ale. This beer recently won "Best Beer" at Latin America’s most important beer competition, “Copa Cervezas de América, 2011” beating hundreds of entries from all over the world. The Augustijn range is completed by Augustijn Donker (a 7% dark ale) and Augustiyn Grand Cru (a 9% tripel).Then we have their 2 very strong barley wines Piraat and Gulden Draak, and their 5% Amber Ale - Bruegel. We also sell their wheat beer, Celis White, (brewed under licence from Petier Celis, the man who recreated this ancient beer type) and their deliberately slighly sour flemish brown ale - Monks Cafe, And finally there are 2 fruit beers which are Celis White flavoured with either cherry or raspberry juice Brussels Kriekenbier and Brussels Framozen.
